Magic Rona Thing

I have a new Mr. Squibly (my long running every-man character) comic that I'm excited to share, but do to Covid-19, the publication Magic Bullet #20, is indefinitely on hold.  This is a free paper so as an artist I'm not missing out on some sort of giant financial windfall.  Other artists are suffering way more than I am in this pandemic.  The thing about these comics I do for Magic Bullet, and other free or low cost publications, is that I do them out of love of the medium and not out of love of the mighty dollar.  My payment is people seeing and reading the work and for me that's enough.  As an artist I have always tried to make sure that my work is true to my vision, my vision is true to my heart, and that at the end of the day I will always be able to say that it fully represents me.  This comic is no different.  Enjoy a few bits of it.  Hopefully you will see the thing in it's entirety someday soon, in your hands, and on cheap newsprint as intended.  Look for it at Big Planet Comics or Atomic Books, whichever is closest to you.

Marvel Internship Project

Here are a few pieces of the long in the works Marvel internship (the bankruptcy years) project that Jeremy and I have been working on.  We're getting pretty close to the finish line so this is just a taste.  Hoping to premier the book at SPX 2020, assuming it doesn't get canceled.  Fingers crossed.

Waiting with Bass

This one was my favorite.  Irony is I was waiting as well, for the musicians to get going.  I was itching to get started.  Imagine this is what the musicians are feeling before they get on stage?

Mr. Strumm

I don't really think of this one as being very complete, but I really was pleased with the posture and the face and legs of the player.  Feels very natural.

B Flat Here

I dig the line work here.  The proportions are a little screwed up though.  Drawing a stand up bass in proportion is not easy.

Recent Works

Here a re a few samples of recent works that were on display at the TP Community Center from November 2018 through the start of 2019.  I probably should have promoted the show a little harder, but as usual I focused more on the completed works and having them all ready to display.  Most of the paintings incorporate reclaimed/recycled paint peels as collage and the beveled painted frames with empty comic panels.  A few different ideas I've been playing with.  Click one of the images to cycle through and get a closed look at some of the craft.  There are a few others from this show that are much larger, but I just didn't think putting them up on your screen did them any justice.  Contact me - dccreeper1 at gmail - if you're interested in seeing any at my studio in Mt. Three Things this WEEEEEK!

This Thursday night tune in for Musical Remedies with the Night Nurse on Takoma Community radio 94.3 WOWD / streaming - https://takomaradio.org/ . I'll be joining the Night Nurse around 8pm for a conversation about the intersection of my art and the music I listen to, Vinyl Vagabonds, and to spin a short set of vinyl.


And this coming Saturday the 15th is the Artists by the Tracks Winter Open Studios in Mt. Ranier. I'll be toiling away in my studio, Otis Street Arts Project from Noon till 5ish. Drop in to see some new in-progress, and old works, pick up a few zines, and even have a quick drawing made for you. Visit the largest cluster of studios in the Gateway Arts District as we open our doors to the public plus special one day only vendors!
